My 8 year old daughter is so scared at bedtime?

Lately, my 8 year old daughter has been so reluctant to go to bed at bedtime. She says she needs either me to lie down with her or to have her TV on in her bedroom. She is scared but I can't identify what she is scared of or how to resolve this issue. I've been giving her extra attention and don't know of any other outside influences. Right now, I just want to help her resort to her nightly routine of going to sleep as before, after bedtime prayers. Thank you in advance for your help.
