I would like to throw a prom and creat a grad expeirence with my friends .. how? help?

Okay so here it is. I moved to a country where the tradition of prom is not known, and is not practiced. I graduated last year in this country [saudi arabia] with no prom experience. this year my brother and a group of my friends are graduating, and i thought, we should make a prom of our own, a grad experience. I need ideas on how to make this happen. I never attended prom, so I don't know how it is, or what it should include. What should I plan for, what do I need to make this happen, make it successful and make it memorable?? What sort of event, and in what order, how and what should be served, and what kind of music should we play ... please, help me.
